"In the name of the Queen, Ben Hall!"
Imagine teaching your class about the excitement of discovering Gold. The relentless exploration of a vast and sometimes unforgiving environment. The rise of the sometimes feared and sometimes worshipped Bushrangers. And then, to ensure the perfect enhancing of their understanding; imagine watching this unbelievable history unfold before your eyes, in your very own school playground.
That's what "The Cobb and Co Show" promise to deliver!
The coach rumbles into view, and the coach driver instructs the passengers to disembark and stretch their legs, as the next part of the journey will be a long one. Suddenly, the past melds with the present and select students are now newspaper reporters who have gone back in time and can interview the driver and the passengers as they mingle close to the student population. All too soon the signal for "All aboard " is sounded and the coach moves on. All of a sudden, Ben Hall appears and as he begins to rant about his dietary limitations and his lack of interest in consuming yet more wombat and possum, more intrepid student reporters can approach and ask the bushranger directly a variety of questions. As the bushranger makes himself scarce, a trooper and black tracker appear centre stage. As they head off, the coach looms back into view, only to be held up by our opportunistic bushranger; who after much "to do", gallops off with the loot. As the coach laps the oval, the trooper and tracker are encountered. They go to work swiftly and after a short time locate Mr Hall. After the shout of "Stand and Deliver", a good old fashioned police chase ensues. All the major players pass the kids at a gallop, will the bushranger escape, or will he be caught?
This is a show that maximises student participation! This show brings the HSIE curriculum to life. Specifically, the stage 3 unit "Gold". The "Change and Continuity" outcome CCS3.1 and the "Culture" outcome CUS3.3 are perfectly catered to. Likewise, the stage 2 "Culture" outcome, CUS2.3. The scope of the show, however, is even broader. In stage 3, while "Gold" is supported, so is "Identity and Values". In stage 2, "Australia, You're Standing in It" and "Places: Then, Now and Tomorrow" are very well catered for with this interactive and breathtaking performance. Likewise, Stage 1 can also be accommodated as the content of the show enhances units such as , "Transport", "Families Past and Present:Stories and Histories" and "The Way We Were".
